Combining entrepreneurship, in-depth engineering technical knowledge, extensive experience in design, project management, project engineering, and construction on a wide range of projects including a major multi-billion dollar Australian coal mine extension project, billion kina Papua New Guinean mixed used real estate development, numerous multi-million kina projects across a range of industry sectors in four different countries, Eric brings corporate as well as project leadership, and essential technical capability to the Olympus Projects Team. Eric leads the company in setting the strategic vision and long-term objective. He has been instrumental in developing the alliance partnership with NAL Civil & Structural Engineers from New Zealand.
Eric has a knack for opportunity and negotiations, and strives to extract the best value for Olympus Projects. His emphasis on putting the Client first, and to provide a personalise solution to every client, having fully understood their needs and expectations is a key differentiator for Olympus Projects among its peers.
Eric has over ten (10) years of professional experience in civil engineering, structural engineering, project engineering, and project management, having worked on projects of sizes from few hundred thousand dollars to multi-billion dollars. Eric’s extensive experience include project engineer role with top 500 Australian engineering company, Ausenco, on the A$2.4billion Kestrel Coal Mine Extension project in Central Queensland. As project engineer, he has been involved in the site infrastructure, one of which included delivering the 300 men camp. Eric has extensive experience in building design including multi-storey building design. He has been involved with the design of some of the landmark high rise buildings in Port Moresby, including Windward Stage 2, Holiday Inn All Suites, Holiday Inn Express, Grand Papua Hotel, Avara Annex, and several others such as the BSP Commercial and Data Centre.
Recently, Eric has been the project manager for MRDC overseeing the delivery of the Star Mountain Plaza Development in Port Moresby. This is a billion-kina project funded by MRDC in preparation for the APEC meeting later in 2018. Aside from the Star Mountain Plaza, Eric has project managed and delivered the upgrade of the Pacific MMI and Pacific Place in Downtown, Port Moresby at a total cost of K32million. Eric also rebranded the Pacific Place to MRDC Haus, marking the coming of age of the Mineral Resources Development Company. Furthermore, he has project managed the development of a state of the art Mobil fuel station in Port Moresby in partnership with Mobil Oil New Guinea and Lifu Holding Limited, project managed the upgrade of the First Heritage Centre, and project managed the upgrade of the Hohola Police Station, in Port Moresby.
Eric has spent the last 7 years of his career working in New Zealand and Australia, and the last 3 years working in Papua New Guinea. He has also worked on projects in the Solomon Islands, Fiji, and Vanuatu.
Eric is a member of the Institute of Engineers Australia (MIEAust), a member of the PNG Institute of Engineers (MIEPNG), and a member of International Project Management Institute. Eric has a Bachelor of Engineering in Civil Engineering from the University of Auckland, New Zealand, and a Master of Engineering in Project Management with high honors from the Queensland University of Technology (QUT).
